Access to Healthcare Services and Facilities in Central Georgia Neighborhoods: A Comprehensive Look

Residents of central Georgia neighborhoods have access to a variety of healthcare services and facilities, thanks to the Georgia Family Health Program (GFHP). The GFHP is dedicated to providing quality primary health care for underserved populations in the state, and has established six project sites and thirteen service delivery sites across twenty-one rural counties. To gain a better understanding of how residents rate their access to healthcare services and facilities, a multivariate logistic regression model was used. This model examined potential and real access to resources that allow health, based on neighborhood crime.

This included self-reported information about neighborhood safety and previous experiences of robberies or property crimes, as well as adjusting for sociodemographic characteristics and self-reported health status. The Georgia Office of Primary Care (PCO) is committed to expanding access to comprehensive, quality primary health care for underserved populations in the state. To achieve this, they are developing new access points to primary care and hiring and retaining safety net providers in underserved areas. Participants were asked about their perceptions of neighborhood safety and their previous experiences of neighborhood crime. This data was used to assess how residents rate their access to healthcare services and facilities. Overall, the data collected from the multivariate logistic regression model showed that residents of central Georgia neighborhoods have access to a variety of healthcare services and facilities. The GFHP is dedicated to providing quality primary health care for underserved populations in the state, while the PCO is working hard to ensure that everyone has access to the healthcare they need. This research provides valuable insight into how residents rate their access to healthcare services and facilities in central Georgia neighborhoods.

It is clear that the GFHP and PCO are making great strides in providing quality primary health care for underserved populations in the state.
